Roma Summits

The European Commission regularly organises European Roma Summits, which provide the opportunity to discuss Roma issues at the highest decision-making levels of EU, national and regional authorities, with the involvement of civil society.
The European Commission has decided to organise Roma Summits in order to bring together high level representatives of EU institutions, national governments and civil society organisations from all over Europe.
As Commission President Barroso underlined, these events represent "a unique opportunity for getting the problems of the Roma higher on the agenda than ever before". Roma Summits are organised approximately every two years.
- The first Roma Summit took place in Brussels on 16 September 2008.
- The second European Roma Summit took place in Córdoba (Spain), on the 8th (International Roma Day) and 9th April 2010.
