The European Commission supports EU countries and civil society in combatting discrimination through the Rights, Equality and Citizenship (REC) programme 2014-2020:
- An annual 'support to national activities aiming at combating discrimination and promoting equality' allows national authorities in charge of equality and non-discrimination to implement antidiscrimination projects for different target groups, including LGBT.
- The Commission supports financially civil society organisations who are promoting the LGBT rights, like European Region of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA), the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer Youth and Student Organization (IGLYO) and Transgender (TGEU).
The type of actions to be funded, the thematic priorities and budget available are indicated yearly in the work programme that can be downloaded at the REC web page.
More funding is possible through calls for tenders.
