Image advertising ExhibitionTo celebrate Ireland's 40th anniversary of accession to the EU, the European Commission Representation in Ireland has created an exhibition entitled "EU-Ireland@40: Looking back over 40 years".

This exhibition represents an invaluable opportunity to review Ireland's journey through the past 40 years of EU membership, a period of time during which the country was transformed politically, economically, socially and qualitatively.

22 panels will lead visitors through the different stages of the relationship  between Ireland and the EU: from the knocking on the door and the following accession, to the last years of crisis and recovery; passing through, amongst the others, the economic development (with the major role played by Common Agricultural Policy and Structural Funds), six previous Irish presidencies, nine Commissioners and two Secretaries-General, the introduction of the Single Market and the Euro, the enlargement and several referendums.

A slideshow of the Exhibition is available here.

The exhibition brochure can be downloaded in English pdf - 7 MB [7 MB] and Irish pdf - 7 MB [7 MB] .
