Work is under way in the European Commission to redefine and redesign how we communicate online to help the 40 million people who visit our websites every month.
The "EU cookie law", requires user's informed consent before data such as cookies or any other related technologies is stored or accessed in a user's device. DG COMM, in consultation with DG CNECT and the Data Protection Officer, has updated the guidelines on cookies to explain how to comply with this legislation and has developed a corporate technical solution, the 'cookie consent kit'. All DGs are requested to make their websites comply by 31 January 2014.
The EUROPA inter-institutional and Commission standard templates have been developed in responsive web design. They are already available for PST and will soon be available in XSL and HTML versions.

A new version of interactive road maps now features a mechanism that is able to handle a large number (500+) of placemarks. With this version also the maximum and minimum zoom can be set and on tablet pc's, the displayed map can now be zoomed and moved with touch screen digit navigation.

Following the adoption of the new corporate visual identity and the discussion in the External Communications Network on December 15th, some modifications have been applied to the template.
The main improvements compared to the first version are:
- Monthly reports (aggregation per day) are now available (last 24 months);
- Reports are also available in pdf and tabular (xls) formats;
- Yearly reports' histograms instead of graphs (aggregation per month);
- New reports' layout and wording;
- The possibility to retrieve views and visits data by single URL has been added;
- Reviewed interface (home page, possibility to go back within same DG, etc.).

New simplified interface to Europa Analytics Reports. It aims to facilitate access to standard web statistics reports.
We are pleased to announce that the accessible EC template 2011 and the new Inter-institutional template 2011 have been put on production.
Along with the templates there have been made improvements in the implementation of multilingual links (utilising language icon) and links to documents.
We would like to remind you that the standard templates 2011 must be used for all new/revamped sites on EUROPA.

EUROPA flash player now provides the option to share the content via embed code.
IPG now allows to create banner title on three lines to include a subtitle or the title of an important sub site within a policy site.
Modifications to the IPG:
- Changed the information architecture;
- Changed navigation into clearer and more user friendly format;
- Applied new version of WCM Documentum PST templating;
- Joined together external and internal part of the IPG into new uniform look and feel;
