Invalid XML and BOM characters

This document describes how to check if your XML are valid before importing them in the CWCM.

 

Get an XML editor

In order to check if your XML documents are valid, we recommend you to use Notepad++ and its XML plugin.

 

Install "Notepad++"

 

Install the "XML Tools" plugin

Please copy the DLL of the "XML Tools" plugin in the folder "\Notepad++\plugins".

 

Install the external libraries

Please copy the DLLs of the external libraries in "\Notepad++".

 

Check the encoding of your XML document

Thanks to Notepad++, you will be able to convert the encoding of your XML documents.

 

Convert to UTF-8 without BOM

  1. Open the XML document in Notepad++.
  2. Click "Encoding > Convert to UTF-8 without BOM".
 

Check if your XML syntax is valid

Using the XSD schemas available from our portal, you will be able to check if the XML syntax is valid.

 

Download the schemas from our portal

 

Validate now

  1. Open the XML document in Notepad++.
  2. Click "Plugins > XML Tools > Validate now".
  3. Browse your computer and select the XSD schema corresponding to the type of your document (short_content, event, etc.).
  4. Click "Open".
  5. Click "OK".

If there are any errors, please correct them and then check the document again untill your XML is valid.
