Class architecture and performance

The top-level classification for the common information architecture of the Commission's web presence includes 15 classes. Each class gives access to a number of tasks. For example, the class "Funding, Tenders" will give access to tasks such as Funding, grants, subsidies, and Doing business with the European Commission (calls for tenders, bids).

The top-level architecture was developed between September 2014 and February 2015 as described on the Top level architecture page.

Architecture building for a class

Step 1: DEVELOP a hypothesis for level 1
  • Using online ‘card sorting’
Step 2: TEST the hypothesis for level 1
  • Using ‘treejack’ testing
Then repeat the process for level 2

Performance measurement (Task Performance Indicator)

Task performance measurement (also known as task performance indicator or TPI) is a way to benchmark how easily and how quickly our audiences can complete their tasks on the Commission's websites. It provides insight into the current situation and how to improve it.

See the factsheet for a detailed description of the process: Factsheet on task performance measurement (TPI)

The classes are presented below in order of their ranking, which is based on the sum of votes received by
all tasks in the class.
