How are Member States implementing the Directive in their legislation?

In order to implement the general principles and obligations established in the Services Directive, most Member States have opted for the adoption of one horizontal law. An alternative and equally valid approach taken by some Member States (notably France and Germany) has been to implement such general principles and obligations on the basis of several acts. In addition, all Member States have had to modify/ abolish existing laws and regulations to ensure conformity with the Directive.

In this section, you can find information on the legislative changes undertaken by Member States. You can also find information on infringement proceedings opened by the Commission against individual Member States.
