Conference
The electronic payments market in Europe offers great opportunities for innovation. Consumers have already significantly changed their payment habits over the recent past. Next to ever growing payments with credit or debit cards, the rise of e-commerce and the increasing popularity of smart phones has enabled new ways of making payments. The benefits of better market integration in this field at European level are substantial. Therefore, the European Commission adopted a Green Paper on card, internet and mobile payments, which was followed by a public consultation.
A conference “Towards an integrated European market for card, mobile and internet payments” was organised on 4 May 2012 in Brussels, to gather all interested stakeholders for a debate on the subjects raised in the Green Paper.
