"REAL FAKE" Competition
EU competition for schools on counterfeiting and piracy
|
|
This was the first competition for schools organised by Members of the European Parliament, to raise awareness of the dangers of counterfeiting and piracy.
The "REAL fake" competition was aimed at young people between 10 and 15 years old and will be an annual event.
All schools in the European Union were invited to participate and pupils and students were encouraged to design a logo or a stamp for the
European
Observatory on Counterfeiting and Piracy or to produce short stories, games and films, or any other items about the problem of counterfeiting and piracy.
The winning entries will now be used to help educate others about the specific impacts and dangers of this phenomenon.
Why this competition was organised
While the dangers associated with counterfeiting and piracy continually grow, public awareness remains comparatively low. Consequently, we urgently need to focus our attention on raising the awareness of children, who can be enticed to buy fakes at an early age.
With this in mind, Members of the
European Parliament with the assistance of the European Commission’s
Directorate General for Internal Market and
Services, launched this new competition, which has been the first step in a Europe-wide educational campaign.
