Dear IMI user,

This edition of the newsletter is all about the IMI user survey, sent to all registered IMI users earlier this year. The aim of the survey was to assess the user-friendliness, main functions and benefits of the system, as well as training and support needs.
With 2332 replies a 20% response rate was achieved. Our thanks to everyone who replied!

Main findings of the user survey
  • The survey revealed a big difference in the frequency of use by national authorities compared to local authorities: while 48% of national authorities frequently use IMI (at least once per month), only 18% of local and regional authorities do so.
  • Of the respondents, those using the Posting of workers module are the most frequent users: 50% use it once per month or more.

  • 79% of all respondents say that IMI is easy to use.
  • The satisfaction rate among frequent users is higher still: 84% agree that IMI is easy to use.
  • 64% said that the latest version (V7) is more user-friendly than the previous one, and only 2% think that it's less user-friendly.

Most respondents are also satisfied with the questions available for the different legal areas. However, the Posting of workers question sets received a relatively low rating.

  • 69% of Professional Qualifications and Services users
  • 68% of Patients' rights users, and
  • 62% of Posting of workers users expressed a positive opinion.

helpdesk
  • One third of respondents indicated that they had not received any information or training on IMI.
  • Two thirds of all respondents have never used the materials available on the IMI website. 40% of them were not even aware that these materials existed.
Follow-up

We will discuss these results with the national IMI coordinators and take them into account when planning future IT development. Some specific follow-up actions have already been planned:

  • Improvements to the authority-search are foreseen.
  • Question sets are due to be revised and will be improved based on user feedback in the upcoming software releases.
  • The display of questions and answers will be improved next year, which will help users to find the relevant questions.
  • Member States and the Commission will continue to promote IMI and its website.

You can find more details and charts about the user survey here (English only).
