Study on the EU Market for Long-Term Retail Savings Vehicles

This study was carried out in the course of 2007 by BME Consulting. It aims to give an insight into the range of products that retail clients invest in when they save for the long term; illustrate the degree of integration in this market in the EU; and give a snapshot of the drivers of consumer behaviour, both in terms of reasons for saving and choice of vehicle.

In addition to desk research and an analysis of the available literature, this study includes the results of an extensive survey of some 8000 consumers. This report provides a general overview of the retail long-term savings market in the EU plus an in-depth analysis of 8 selected countries.
