Public Consultation on the review of the EU copyright rules

Target group

All citizens and organisations were welcome to contribute to this consultation. Contributions were particularly sought from consumers, users, authors, performers, publishers, producers, broadcasters, intermediaries, distributors and other service providers, collective management organisations, public authorities and Member States.

The objective of the consultation was to gather input from all stakeholders on the review of the EU copyright rules.

In the interests of transparency, organisations are invited to provide the public with relevant information about themselves by registering in the Interest Representative Register and subscribing to its Code of Conduct. If the organisation is not registered, the submission will be published separately from the registered organisations.

Results of consultation and next steps

The public consultation has generated broad interest with more than 9500 replies to the consultation document and a total of more than 11000 messages, including questions and comments, sent to the Commission’s dedicated email address. Replies were received from a wide range of stakeholders including users, consumers, right holders, industry, collective management organisations and governments.
