Financial Reporting in a Changing World, Brussels, 7 – 8 May 2009
The
European Commission hosted a Conference on Financial Reporting in a Changing World in Brussels on the 7th and 8th of May. The conference addressed a broad range of accounting issues both from a political and technical angle, covering short as well as long term issues. The first day concentrated on overall policy issues in financial reporting.
The second day was dedicated to accounting issues raised by the financial crisis such as the pro-cyclicality of financial statements and possible remedies, i.e. dynamic provisioning. The conference was concluded with a discussion on possible issues for the future direction of financial reporting, which have also a different link to the broader debate on corporate governance.
