Internet policies

Following the implementation of the new EU Regulatory Framework,
we invite you to visit our new site, e-Communications, Networks and Services
Please note that as from the 1st of November 2003, it will definitively replace the 'Telecommunication and Communications services' site which will no longer be on line. We suggest to update your bookmark accordingly.

The Internet is one of the most dynamic phenomena shaping social and economic change in the world today. Not surprisingly, therefore, a broad range of policy initiatives and debates on Internet-related issues is taking place thoughout the European institutions.

As part of its broad remit of responsibilities for the Information Society, the European Commission is involved in a large number of activities related to the development, regulation and promotion of Internet technologies and services.  This site provides information on the main Internet policy initiatives of the European Commission, and complements other information available via links on eEurope, research & development, e-commerce and the Internet Action Plan.

This site deals with the following key policy issues:

    Internet organisation and management

The creation of a dot.EU domain

     combating computer crime

     Public sector information

     Other  related issues

     Useful links
