Internet Governance and the Domain Name System (DNS)The use of the Internet continues to develop and expand rapidly and is
expected to extend into a vast range of applications for human and machine
communication. The organisation and management of Internet naming and addressing
systems, the so-called
Internet governance, is currently being reorganised in order to transfer
management responsibility for these systems to the private sector. The
non-profit Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)
has been entrusted with this task. |
