Europe's Information Society: Essential Reading
This section brings together a variety of 'essential reading' publications. Note that while each item may be available in a variety of languages, few items are available in all languages.
- Audiovisual: you can browse our library of online audiovisual
material:
- by Order of Publication;
- by Theme: most of the theme pages, accessed from this site's banner (above), feature menus of audiovisual material sorted by theme;
- Factsheets: these double-sided A4 pdf files cover Information Society topics, such as relevant European policies and programmes,
and print well
in both colour and black & white. While the menus, below, are currently
only available in English (see
Towards the
Multilingual Newsroom), many Factsheets are available in several
languages.
- Browse by Order of Publication/Update, for those looking for the latest (or most recently updated) Factsheets;
- Browse by Factsheet Number: if you want the electronic version of one you already have on paper, then this page lists them by Factsheet Number;
- Press Factsheets: If you seek a specific Press Factsheet, on the other hand, please look in the appropriate Press Pack (next).
- Press Packs: these bring together in one online package all of the material - press releases, background notes, speeches, factsheets, reports, legislative documents and so on - assembled for journalists when the EC launches important new initiatives. Again, while the Press Pack items are currently only available in English, each links to material which is available in several languages (see Towards the Multilingual Newsroom).
- Brochures: the brochures listed here introduce some of the EU's most important Information Society policies and activities;
- Reports: the Commission produces many reports on the Information Society - this section lists some recent highlights.
