Background information on the RFID lighthouse projects, the 2nd Symposium
At the EU-US summit in April 2007 the leaders of the EU and the US made the statement that deeper transatlantic economic integration will benefit citizens and the competitiveness of both economies. For more information see:

The two administrations have translated this RFID lighthouse project into
(1) in an exchange of information and best practices from field trials ( the objective of the second symposium) and
(2) in an ambition to engage in RFID pilot projects that hold the promise to deliver on these goals (the objective of the networking day).
The first EU-US symposium on RFID took place in Washington DC in 2008. See further:
