i2010 Ad-hoc Group on Security
Some Member States showed interests to have security and trust as one of the topics for discussion of the i2010 High Level Group (HLG). An ad-hoc group was convened in response to this interest to exchange views on and discuss the needs and options for the establishment of an i2010 HLG sub-group on security.
The first meeting of the ad-hoc group took place on 7 September 2006 and gathered 19 delegates representing 17 Member States plus Romania. The outcome of this meeting was the acknowledgement that security and trust are important issue for the Information Society and for the i2010 HLG.
Although it was initially suggested that this sub-group on Security be permanent rather than ad hoc, but it was finally decided that it should only be convened when the i2010 HLG would identify particular security issues to be discussed.
