EU-US cooperation in eHealth - main elements of a joint roadmap for activities under the MoU identified
EU - US cooperation on eHealth
The European Union and the United States recognise the importance of health-related Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in promoting individual and community health while fostering innovation and economic growth.

Both the EU and the US wish to facilitate more effective use of health-related ICT to support the health of the population, and to strengthen their relationship and support global cooperation in this area. The approach to fostering mutual understanding of the common challenges faced by both sides is set out in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which was signed at the meeting of the Transatlantic Economic Council (TEC) in December 2010.

The European Commission (DG INFSO) and the US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) have identified the main elements of a joint roadmap for activities under the MoU, and will outline these elements by the summer of 2012. A joint EU-US Workshop on activities under the MoU was held on 7th May 2012 in the context of the eHealth Week Conference. Read the report and a short summary of the recent and upcoming joint activities under the MoU.
