Now part of our everyday life, the Internet has become a basic utility for homes and businesses in the same way as electricity or water. Affordable, reliable and secure broadband connectivity is essential to making full use of the services that the Internet offers nowadays.

Now that the EU regulation on roaming is here, roaming costs are set to be considerably cheaper, up to 70% cheaper, for travellers within the European Union. This leaflet gives 10 tips to benefit from lower roaming charges as soon as possible.

Unfolding innovative interactive multimedia and audio-visual services for hand-held mobiles – this was the objective of Phenix, a project led by a Chinese-European consortium. Partners co-operated on the commercial, industrial and research aspects for a roll-out on the Chinese market.

The publication contains the summaries of 40 experiences of regional innovation projects developed by regional authorities in different domains such as enterprise clustering, science/industry networking, delivering information and communications technology (ICT) service for citizens and many more. The case studies are part of the Commission's renewed strategy to proactively support the dissemination and exchange of good practices across the EU.

For European SMEs, there may be more mouths to feed, but the cake is bigger

Europe’s regions and their competitiveness are critical to the EU’s mid-term macroeconomic perspective. This document gives some good examples of how the Union’s cohesion policy and the Structural Funds contribute to the economic, social and environmental pillars of the Lisbon and Gothenburg strategies. The 26 projects which have been selected under five different headings were chosen to demonstrate that EU funding addresses issues that are relevant to enhanced regional competitiveness, sustainable development and the creation of more and better jobs.
