The Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting of February will take place in Brussels on 25 and 26 February 2013, under the presidency of Mr Simon Coveney, Irish Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
The European Commission's 5th annual report on the implementation of the European Fisheries Fund (EFF) includes an analysis of how EFF programmes have contributed to their original objectives set out at the beginning of the 2007-2013 programming period. The analysis uses the results of the first four years to examine to what extent EFF measures have contributed to achieving the objectives of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP).
The European Commission welcomes the recent vote of the European Parliament on the Commission's proposal for a new Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). With this vote the Parliament is paving the way for negotiations with the Council with a view to concluding an agreement on the new policy.

After yesterday's vote in the European Parliament's fisheries committee, negotiations on the reform package will regain momentum in early 2013 with both the vote on the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) proposal in the Parliament plenary and, the subsequent vote on the EMFF proposal.
