De Raad van Visserijministers kwam op 22 april bijeen in Luxemburg, waar van gedachten werd gewisseld over de basisverordening van het gemeenschappelijk visserijbeleid. De debatten draaiden rond drie vragen van het Ierse voorzitterschap aan de ministers: (1) overeenkomst over de tijdlijn van afronding van de onderhandelingen met het EP, teneinde voor de zomer tot een politiek akkoord te komen; (2) flexibiliteitsmarges inzake de belangrijkste kwesties (MDO, teruggooiverbod, regionalisering, beheer van de vlootcapaciteit); (3) aanpak van de institutionele kwesties in verband met de meerjarenplannen.

Vandaag bracht Europees Commissaris voor Maritieme zaken en Visserij Maria Damanaki een bezoek aan de jaarlijkse Seafood Exposition in Brussel. Zij greep de gelegenheid aan om de nieuwe online waarnemingspost voor de EU-markt voor visserij- en aquacultuurproducten (EUMOFA) te lanceren.

The European Fisheries Control Agency has presented the new tools to develop a culture of compliance in a reformed Common Fisheries Policy at the European Parliament today. Indeed, in the context of the new policy being designed, the EFCA, within its mandate, is ready to contribute to the success of the new CFP and the key features of regionalisation and discard ban and develop the necessary tools.
