The EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council met in Luxembourg, to address the main proposals for reforming the Common Fisheries Policy.
The Council reached a general compromise on the reform of the basic provisions of the Common Fisheries Policy and of the rules regarding the organisation of the markets in fishery and aquaculture products.

The Sotavento FLAG in Portugal has helped local actors in Olhão to use the European Fisheries Fund to capitalise on the environmental assets of their fisheries area and create new economically viable activities.

The Second Regional Meeting and the Third Technical Workshop of the IMP-MED project which is providing technical assistance for an integrated approach to maritime affairs in the Southern European Neighbourhood Policy countries took place from 30 May to 1 June 2012 in Valetta, Malta.
