The European Commission is expected to publish a call for proposals on "Guardians of the Sea" before the end of July 2013. The objective of this initiative is to promote the re-orientation of fishermen and fishing vessels towards activities outside fishing.

The Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting of July 2013 will take place in Brussels on 15th July 2013. It will be the first Council under the presidency of Mr Vigilijus Jukna, Lithuanian Minister of Agriculture.
