European Maritime Day 2014 official launch with information stakeholders' sessions in Brussels and Bremen
(22/11/2013) The 7th edition of the European Maritime Day Conference (EMD) which will be held in Bremen (Germany) on 19 and 20 May 2014, has been launched officially in a stakeholders meeting in Brussels on November 21, 2013. The meeting was hosted by the Permanent Representation of the Federal Republic of Germany to the European Union.
The organisers of EMD, the European Commission - DG for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Ports of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, invited members of the European maritime community to get involved actively in the EMD conference by organising workshops, events and exhibition stands.
The central theme of the 2014 conference is innovation and maritime technologies. The online application for workshops, events and exhibitions is now available.
A second event will be held in Bremen on Thursday, 28th November 2013 (10h00 – 12h30) hosted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Ports of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen at the Bremen Congress Centre.
The Final Conference of the Cooperation Project (CoopP), Helsinki
The Final Conference of the project takes place on 11th of December 2013 at Finlandia Hall in Helsinki, and will be hosted by Chief of the Finnish Border Guard, Lieutenant General Jaakko Kaukanen.
Stefaan Depypere elected as chair to ICCAT Commission
The International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) today elected its Chair for the next two-year term. ICCAT Contracting Parties unanimously supported the appointment of Mr Stefaan Depypere, Head of the EU Delegation to ICCAT and Director in the Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the European Commission.
