Blue Growth is our long-term strategy to support sustainable growth in the marine and maritime sector as a whole. The seas and oceans can drive the European economy forward through their potential for innovation and growth. This strategy - and the Integrated Maritime Policy in general - will get us closer to the Europe 2020 goals of smart, sustainable and inclusive growth.

Details of the Horizon 2020 Focus Area for Blue Growth were published in the Official Journal on 11 December 2013 and details of the 2014 and 2015 topics were published on the Europa the following day.

Under H2020 the turn-around time for decisions is about nine months. The assessment process consists of Research and Innovation Actions (RIA) and Innovation Actions (IA) being subject to a two stage selection process; screening of a 15 page submission initially and subsequent invitation to selected projects to submit full applications in a second stage. In the case of applications submitted in March 2014, detailed evaluations will follow in September 2014 with decisions due by December. Coordination and support actions (CSA) have a one stage evaluation; with an overall decision time of six months.
