The annual conference of the European Ocean Energy Association, Ocean Energy Europe 2013 takes place in Edinburgh this year, supported by Scottish Development International.
Ocean Energy Europe 2013 is an international platform for the industry, politicians and senior decision-makers from member states and the Commission to network and develop strategic plans for accelerating development across the sector.
The European Ocean Energy Association has been working with the European Commission for several years to raise profile and explain the opportunities for a strong European marine energy sector.

Workshop on Maritime Spatial Planning for fisheries and aquaculture in Vilnius, Lithuania
Since 2006, the European Commission has supported Maritime Spatial Planning to optimise the use of the marine space for the benefit of economic development and the marine environment. In March 2013, the European Commission adopted a legislative proposal to support the implementation of Maritime Spatial Planning and Integrated Coastal Management in Europe.

Every year in May, European Maritime Day is celebrated within the European Union to showcase the importance of the seas and oceans for our everyday life. The Maritime Day Conference has become the main European event where stakeholders from all maritime sectors meet and discuss the opportunities and challenges currently facing maritime regions and sectors across Europe.
