Journalists and media figures to make proposals to Kroes on effects of digital revolution

(07/12/2011) Vice President Kroes has formed and will today open a new forum of leading media figures to debate what the EU can do to help media fully transition to the digital era without losing its essence.

Journalists and editors in the group include: Oscar Bronner, Editor-in-chief, Der Standard Prof. Roy Greenslade, (Guardian), Rob de Spa (Wegener Media), alongside James Powell, Executive V-P Thomson Reuters, and Xavier Vidal-Folch, of El Pais. Kroes says group members must leave their corporate positions at the door and bring "out-of-the-box thinking" to the debate forum. Mrs. Kroes said : "The digital revolution is turning media upside down: how can the digital single market and other tools capture the potential of this new dynamic?"
