4 European regional projects win "European 2007 Broadband Project" awards

(16/05/2007) All across Europe, different projects aim to connect rural and remote areas to broadband and try to promote its use to spur rural and regional development. To exploit the diversity of approaches and experiences from different regions, an exhibition at the "Bridging the Broadband Gap" showcased projects that constitute good practice from across Europe.

Participants of the event selected the winners among the 50 projects that took part to the exhibition. The winners were :

  1. "PVCS - PVP", Public Video Conference Spots from the Auvergne Region (France)
  2. "K-PSI", a Broadband Communication Network from the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region (Poland)
  3. Ex-aequo : "BBK — Broadband Initiative" from Carinthia (Austria) and the "Connected Communities" Wireless Broadband Network from the Outer Hebrides, Scotland (UK).
