The 2013 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) will be held in Karlsruhe on May 6-10. The conference theme is “Anthropomatics – Technologies for Humans”, highlighting the paramount role of Robotics and Automation in improving human quality of life.
The 2013 ICRA programme contains key note speeches, workshops and tutorials as well as awards, robot challenges and a large industrial exhibition (from May 7th to 9th). ICRA 2012 that took place in Minnesota, USA attracted more than 1700 people from 45 countries.
There will be a special EU booth at the exhibition showing some of the robotics projects funded by the EU. Moreover, Mr Khalil Rouhana, Director of Components and Systems in DG CONNECT, will hold the opening speech on Monday, May 6th.
Mr Libor Kral, Head of the Robotics Unit in DG CONNECT will speak during the Industrial Forum on Wednesday, May 8th, while Mr Olivier Da Costa, Project Officer in the robotics unit, will present the Digital Agenda platform Futurium during the Science Forum on Friday, May 10th.

The conference also offers technical tours of research labs in the area. Conference attendees can join (against a small fee) a guided tour of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Fraunhofer IPA in Stuttgart, Max Planck Institute (Tübingen), University of Freiburg's technical faculty or the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. Tours of the local area will also be arranged especially for ICRA attendees (link for more information on the tours).
