Reporting on Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) at the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) 2016
The EuroScience Open Forum is an international conference dedicated to science and innovation. This year it took place in Manchester from 23rd to 27th of July. For the first time, Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) was organising two sessions at ESOF (which took place on 25th of July) dedicated to how it fosters cutting edge science and technology, and how it should evolve in the future.

Professor J. Mlynek will chair expert group on Quantum Technology Flagship
In a joint blogpost, Dutch Minister Henk Kamp and Commissioner Günther H. Oettinger thank Professor Jürgen Mlynek for accepting to chair the committee driving the Quantum Technology Flagship preparatory phase. The composition of the group will be announced in the coming weeks once the selection procedure is completed.

The FET Proactive call on HPC aims to leverage the existing European strengths for building the next generation of extreme performance computing and taking advantage of the new opportunities created from the transition from peta to exascale computing. The ultimate goal is to achieve world-class extreme scale computing capabilities in platforms, technologies and applications. Next call deadline is 27 September 2016.

Graphene Flagship reaches the US: the first steps for a joint collaboration EU-US are set
(18/07/2016) In a blog post, Thomas Skordas, Acting Director of Digital Excellence and Science Infrastructure" highlights the new scheme that will enable the researchers working in EU's Graphene Flagship partner research labs and the researchers funded by the US National Science Foundation (NSF) to expand the scope of their work by collaborating with research groups on the other side of the Atlantic, thanks to mobility funding grants. These grants will be supported respectively by the Graphene Flagship and NSF.
