Eniac and Artemis boost European research and development in nanoelectronics and embedded systems

The European Commission has endorsed on 27-11-2013 a report by a panel of independent experts on the activities of ARTEMIS and ENIAC (public-private partnerships for collaborative research in the fields of embedded systems and nanoelectronics).

The experts confirmed the high value and significant achievements of ARTEMIS and ENIAC and recommended further simplification, improving administrative procedures and strengthening the governance structures.

The timeframe for the recommendations indicates whether they are to be implemented under the current structures or should be considered for the future Electronic Components and Systems for European Leadership (ECSEL).

The Commission stressed in its report the importance of the involvement of industry at the highest level to show leadership and engagement.

The final evaluation of ARTEMIS and ENIAC is scheduled for 2017 as part of the interim evaluation foreseen for  ECSEL.
