News :: The travel industry is increasingly engaged in raising awareness on 112
(10/12/2013) This year on 11 February, which is the European Day for the Single European Emergency Number "112" Vice-President of the Commission Neelie Kroes launched the initiative. She called on the European Travel Agents' and Tour Operators' Association (ECTAA) to inform European travellers about the single European Emergency Number 112.
A series of initiatives undertaken by Travel Agents and Tour Operators were published already on the 112 website of the Commission in order to serve as best practice.
The latest such initiative comes from Amadeus, a leading provider of advanced technology solutions for the global travel industry. Customer groups include travel providers (e.g. airlines, hotels, rail and ferry operators, etc.), travel sellers (travel agencies and websites), and travel buyers (corporations and travel management companies). 112-emergency number is displayed on all Amadeus travel confirmations in the German and the Austrian market. Every year approx. 4,5 million travel confirmations are printed and sent to travellers.
