CSP-Forum - Clustering Trust & Security research projects

(02/12/2013)

The CSP FORUM organises clustering activities around the funded EU Trust & Security research projects. The CSP FORUM is coordinated and run by the EU FP7 SecCord CSA project.

CSP FORUM explores ways to develop and enhance T&S project clustering/collaboration activities already in place in the trust and security research space, providing an engaging programme of opportunities for currently active and newly funded T&S projects, to come together for fruitful debate, development, sharing of state of the art ideas and knowhow, and identifying further issues/gaps to be explored.

CSP FORUM supports enhanced collaborative networking: provide opportunities, not only for clustering and networking, but also for more structured interaction between projects and between individuals directly involved in or having dependencies on trusted ICT.

CSP FORUM has two main clusters active currently. Special interest groups for topical issues as they arise develop under these two main clusters.

Technical Cluster

Chair : Michele Bezzi, SAP (michele.bezzi@sap.com )

The following main technical topics were identified as the initial core prioritised topics for potential discussions within the technical cluster. Please note this is not a full list, as cluster events progress additional topics of relevance to the participating research projects will be highlighted and included.

  • Software Assurance and Security Certifications
  • Security Metrics and Security Economics
  • Sharing Security Data
  • CyberSecurity in T&S research projects

Networking and Co-ordination Cluster

Chair: Paul Malone , Waterford Institute Of Technology ( pmalone@tssg.org )

In this framework, the CSAs collaborate among themselves to support the clustering activities, bringing CSA/NoE projects together and integrating activities and results. The objectives of this cluster include the following,

• Research Roadmaps: This is a topic of activity for several projects, the Networking and Coordination Cluster examines and see how and if they can be aligned and coordinated; in short: who is writing what and when, and what are the priority areas.

• Focus on excellence: The cluster activity focuses on areas where the EU are known leaders and have a competitive advantage: e.g., cryptography, smart card and smart grid.

• Sharing information: People have a limited view on project results (many deliverables are not public, and in any cases scarcely read beyond the authors and Commission/reviewers). Clusters can be used to capture important scientific information from the projects in a consistent way.

• Learning lessons: Clusters can be used to gather lessons learned (good and bad) from projects, which are usually never captured anywhere.
