Cancer remains a prominent health concern affecting modern societies. Continuous innovations and introduction of new technologies are essential to level or even reduce current healthcare spending.
The research project MIRACLE
aims to develop a low-cost, fully automated, integrated lab-on-a-chip (LOC) system for the isolation, counting and characterization of occult tumour cells starting directly from clinical samples.
MIRACLE is a collaborative project between 14 partners from universities, research institutions and companies from all over Europe.
The project is funded by the European Commission within the 7th Framework Programme
. It has started in 2010, and should finish in 2014.
