Shaping Future Internet Research and Experimentation (FIRE) for Horizon 2020

24 October 2013

The First FIRE Forum, open workshop and networking event will be held in Ghent on 24 October. The whole FIRE community is invited, along with others interested in Future Internet research, experimentation and innovation. FIRE creates new opportunities for collaboration among researchers, industry stakeholders, SMEs, smart cities and regions, and innovation intermediaries. Synergies should be explored between initiatives and programmes, such as FIRE, EIT ICT Labs, FI-PPP, the new 5G-PPP initiative, Smart Cities and Living Labs as well as national research networking initiatives (Géant) and Future Internet initiatives worldwide. The upcoming Horizon 2020 programme provides a multi-year framework to strengthen cross-links between actors and communities, to help build and exploit new forms of cooperation. FIRE therefore aims to fulfil a specific role as the research and innovation “engine” of the evolving European Future Internet ecosystem. Forum delegates will get the chance to network with the extended FIRE community and learn how FIRE can help shape Horizon 2020 for the Future Internet. Stay tuned, spread the word and invite your community!
