17 June 2013, European Commission, CHARLEMAGNE Building (Alcide de Gasperi Room), rue de la Loi / Wetstraat 170, Brussels
Europe lacks a genuine single market for electronic communications. The Union is fragmented into distinct national markets and as a result Europe is losing out on a major source of potential growth.
The European Commission therefore welcomes the conclusions of the 2013 Spring European Council, calling for measures to create a Single Telecom Market as early as possible. In this context, the European Commission is organising a public event on its planned initiative to achieve such a genuine Single Telecom Market and to discuss the social and economic opportunities it will create.
The event will be opened by Vice-President Neelie Kroes and followed by panels and discussions with stakeholders.
The event is open to all on a first served basis.
