(14/05/2013) For its 10th anniversary, the Future Internet Assembly (FIA) held in Dublin on 8-10 May attracted more than 600 researchers and business people from Europe and overseas – the most attended FIA ever! It strengthened its position as a key stakeholders’ event, at a time when the Future Internet has many untapped opportunities for European players.
The 2013 edition of FIA brought along timely and valuable insights for the design of future EU research and innovation programmes, such as Horizon 2020, on how to go beyond research, addressing innovation and business creation as well. The exhibition area was also highly popular, showcasing outstanding research from 46 project demonstrations and 28 posters.
The best of FIA Dublin 2013 featured SpitFIRE for the best project demonstration, CONVERGENCE for the best poster and “Network operators’ perspective on Future Networks challenges” for the best session. In addition, the PURSUIT project received the Future Internet Award in the FIA closing, for its major contribution to redefining the existing internet design in order to ensure users retain stronger control over their data while enhancing broadband connections.
