Hungary: Digital Champion's plans for the year ahead

2 May 2013

Istvan Erenyi, Digital Champion in Hungary, is planning to help his country becoming digital. "The digital world is changing very fast. My general objective is to help my country to be part of these changes, not a follower", said Mr Erenyi.

"The digital world is changing very fast. My general objective is to help my country to be part of these changes, not a follower"

He will approach in his activity four different categories of stakeholders: the citizens that never went online, the SMEs, the ICT-educated people and the ICT sector.

"40% of Hungarians are digitally illiterate. We need to approach these people and find out the reasons behind these numbers ", thinks Mr. Erenyi

According to his view, the Government needs to be in a dialogue with the ICT sector: "It is important to also discuss with the service providers and with digital content creators. Hungarians need services that are user friendly and in this way the take-up will be higher."

Istvan Erenyi is the appointed Digital Champion in Hungary. He is also his country's representative in the Digital Agenda High Level Group.
