MEDIA is the EU support programme for the European audiovisual industry.

The MEDIA 2007 Programme comprises a series of support measures for the European audiovisual industry focusing on:
- training professionals
- developing production projects
- distributing films and audiovisual programmes
- promoting films and audiovisual programmes
- supporting film festivals
The MEDIA programme is jointly run by the
Information Society & Media
Directorate General
under the authority of
Commissioner Viviane Reding and the
Education, Audiovisual & Culture Executive
Agency.
New! Call for proposals Preparatory action MEDIA International 2010
The present call with a budget of € 1 million focuses on actions taking place between 1 August 2010 and 31 March 2011, in the fields of training and market access.
The MEDIA Production Guarantee Fund
The Commission has published a
call for expressions of interest (2010/S 1-000123)
on January 2nd 2010 in view of setting up a loan guarantee mechanism in the framework of the
MEDIA 2007 Programme. This MEDIA Production
Guarantee Fund will be aimed at supporting and facilitating the access of European audiovisual companies to bank credits.
Proposals can be submitted to the European Commission until April 15th 2010.
Public Consultation on Digital Cinema
The purpose of this consultation is to gather information and views from all stakeholders on digital cinema, in particular digital cinema distribution and the digital equipment of European cinemas.
The consultation was closed on 16 December 2009
The results will be published early 2010.
Preparatory action MEDIA INTERNATIONAL
The European Parliament voted a budget of €5 million on 18 December 2008 for the second year of activity of the Preparatory Action MEDIA International. The Action aims at strengthening cooperation between audiovisual industries of third countries and European countries.
