How do I get involved?

Users must first register to this website, which provides access to all of the site's services. Now that the Calls for Proposals for the Exhibition and Networking Programmes are over, these services include:

registering to attend the event itself:
- if you have already registered to the site, simply log in - you'll find a 'Register' button on your "My Event" page;
- if you have not yet registered to the site, do so - you'll then be taken to your "My Event" page;
commenting on the validated networking proposals;
the IST Event e-newsletter.

Book your hotel ASAP: Please note that the places reserved by the Commission for IST 2006 have already been booked - see Where do I stay?, below.

How much does it cost?

The following fees apply to the whole Event, including the conference, exhibition and networking sessions which includes lunches and receptions:

Early bird fee until 13/10/2006: €400
Between 14/10/2006 and 20/11/2006: €500
Daily fee: €200

The Exhibition is open to the public and entrance is free.

On Monday, 20th November the welcome desk will be open from 18:00 until 20:00. We encourage you to pick up your badge in advance to avoid long queues the next morning. On Tuesday through to Thursday, the registration desk will be open each day from 07:30 until the close of the conference.

Where is IST 2006 being held?

IST 2006 is being held at Helsinki Messukeskus (the Helsinki Fair Centre), only 20 minutes by tram or 5 minutes by train (+ 5 minutes walk) from the city centre - visit their website.

Airport taxi: the average fare from airport to city centre is ?35.
Local Bus Service to Airport: the 615 and 615T leave from train station square, platform 10.

Tourist & Visa Information

If you are citizen of a country from where it is necessary to have a visa for visiting Finland, you must obtain a visa before travelling. Please contact your local Finnish Embassy for all relevant visa information.

A limited number of rooms were reserved at a number of hotels, most of which are located in the city centre, about 3km from Helsinki Fair Centre.
