Vision and Objectives
The Internet, although already an economically and socially important factor, will be significantly improved in the future and will further revolutionise our lives.
Where will we be 2020 in the field of networked media and beyond?
This is to be predicted. Although it is still impossible to forecast everything today, there is no doubt, that the Internet will improve as the space for communication, social networking, shared interactive experiences, work, cooperation and education in professional as well as private life of the individuals. Future Internet technologies will provide the means for complete new networked activities, web-businesses, services and opportunities. It will further integrate people with services and things that 'think' with the goal of the so called 'Internet with Things'. Interfaces will become immersive, multimodal and intuitive. They will become simpler and more easy to use. Inexpensive camera and sensor technology installed all over will be also used as motion/gesture/localisation interfaces which can vice versa improve trust and security. The user will feel like becoming a part of an immersive world. Presence technology will support Mixed and Augmented Reality Interactions creating the illusion of being there while physically being elsewhere.
