The synergies between ICT and Biomedical Sciences could generate huge advances in health and information technologies. This conference is a perfect opportunity to learn more about ongoing and future research activities and technology developments at the crossroads between ICT and biomedical sciences.
The conference will take place over 2 days. The first half-day will feature high level speakers from the EC, EP and Member States and science. This is followed by a number of parallel sessions around 6 themes that incorporate ICT and the life sciences. Additionally, 3 ‘concertation meetings’ will be held in which representatives from EC-funded projects discuss future opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration between the ICT and life sciences research communities. At the conference, a number of audiovisual and 3-D live demonstrations will be staged.
400 registered participants turned up
Concertation Meetings with projects of DG Information Society and Media and DG Research will take place on 29/06/06 - 17:00 ~18:30.
They will be divided into three groups:
j Simulation and modelling of human physiology & disease related processes
k Integrated biomedical information for better healthcare
l HealthGrid - Health information infrastructure and applications
The concertation meetings aim at i) facilitate the
networking between projects and experts working in related research areas,
ii) provide better visibility to the project activities and iii)
identify synergies and common area of interests that could be tackled
collectively by groups of projects.
Attendance to these meetings is open, but interventions will be restricted to
the project representatives.
Demos on virtual drug screening, a cardiovascular demonstrator, registration
between medical imaging and motion capture and others will be held in the
Charlemagne building in the Foyer in front of Room S3 during the conference.
The conference is a joint effort of two EC Directorates: the DG for
Information Society and Media and the DG for Research.
A Webscasting of the opening, the
