ICT BIO 2008 :: Concertation Meeting
Concertation Meeting
A Concertation Meeting with VPH related projects of DG Information Society will take place on October 22, 2008 - all day. It will be mainly organised by the newly funded project VPH-NoE.
The networking part of the meeting was divided into the following groups:
- VPH modelling and integration
- Data access and Grid infrastructure
- VPH application and software
- Training
- Communication and dissemination
The concertation meetings seeked to:
- Facilitate the networking between projects and experts working in related research areas.
- Provide better visibility to the project activities.
- Identify synergies and common area of interests that could be tackled collectively by groups of projects.
In this specific meeting, particular focus will be made on the VPH Network of Excellence.
Three parallel focussed workshops (identifying 2-3 key challenges/possible solutions in each area) have been set:
- Workshop 1: The potential impact of VPH research
- Workshop 2: VPH Implementation Issues
- Workshop 3: VPH Training, Dissemination and Networking

The report of the VPH Concertation Day, held in conjunction with the ICTBIO 2008 meeting, jointly organised by the EC and VPH NoE project is now available. This includes:
- General Meeting Summary
- Review of Workshop 1: Clinical and Industrial Applications of the VPH
- Review of Workshop 2: A Perspective on Data and the VPH Initiative
- Review of Workshop 3: Development of a Common EU training framework
- Plenary session minutes
Follow-up actions, resulting from Workshops 1-3, will be pursued by VPH NoE representatives together with representatives of VPH-I and VPH-related projects. These are described in full in the document, and include:
- Preparation of dissemination material on the VPH-I, targeting the clinical community
- Establishment of a VPH Standards Working Group
- Organisation of a pilot Industrial Concertation Event, for VPH research
- Establishment of a VPH Data Working Group
- Preparation of a White Paper on Sharing and Reuse of Clinical Data
- Establishment of a VPH-I Working Group
- Publication of a VPH-I newsletter
If you would like to know more about the activities above, please review the meeting report and contact the persons referenced as responsible for each workshop and/or task (all details are noted at the end of each workshop section).
