VIENNA 2008 :: the Smart Home exhibition space

Smart Home technologies offer new possibilities for everybody. The exhibition space offered visitors a chance to experience what the technology offers in terms of assistance at home.

11 different exhibitors (see details ) showed how they are using the newest technologies and innovative use of well-known technologies to create possibilities for elderly and disabled person. The exhibited devices can help persons to stay independently at home and still feel secure.

The exhibitors ranged from commercial companies showing how Smart Home technologies, which are part of their product range to research projects funded by the European Commission showing how research can benefit the every-day life of elderly and disabled.

The focus of the exhibition was for visitors to experience for themselves how technologies work and interact with the persons using them. Many of the devices are developed with a focus on elderly or disabled, but visitors also experienced how these devices can be helpful for everybody.

The Smart Home Exhibition space was built as a simple version of a one bedroom apartment with an open kitchen, a dinning area, a lounge area and a bedroom with a toilet.
