ICT 2008 :: Networking sessions
3D Living Innovation (User led innovation using 3D and virtual worlds)
Salle Rhône 5, 27/11/2008 (9:00-10:30)
Using 3D and virtual world technologies for better product testing
Host La Fabrique du Futur will brief SMEs and entrepreneurs on the use of Living Labs centred on 3D and virtual world technologies that allow them to interact directly with potential customers when testing new products and services before launch. A core team of business and technical partners will lead a pragmatic, ‘hands-on’ session demonstrating that 3D customer-led innovation can bring very tangible benefits, such as: a shorter time to market for innovations; easier adjustments to market needs and production constraints through rapid prototyping (enabling faster trial-and-error iterative processes); increased creativity through scenario planning and storytelling possibilities; easier simulation of environments and concepts; and lower costs.

This session is particularly interesting for the future of innovation for two major aspects : fasten the innovation process by including all the actors and improve the carbon footprint. I really hope the session will be confirmed and I will attend.

Open innovation is the real new innovation methodology of this decade. It would be important to consider methodlogies related to open innovation and how to get contributors involved (qualification, motivation, privacy...)
By playing with eG virtual worlds get will never give real "real-time feedback from the market". And even less will it "stimulate further innovation".
This session promised to be a very interesting discussion and debate about whether 3D virtual worlds could provide a place for users to virtually experiment technologies before they are developed and for researchers and all stakeholders to evaluate their potential impact as it is promoted by the "Living Lab" research and innovation approach.
Take a look at the following newsletter dedicated to Living Labs:

I will defintely participate to this session.
This - promising - session will be the right moment to show up a real concept of citizenship through 3D virtual worlds, directly related with sustainability and collaborating actions... Let's fasten the innovations processes and keep in the main goals the objective of including the citizens in the decision making of the future.
Interested in the topic - will attend
Interested in this topic from several years. Our business is market oriented (advertising, marketing).
Open innovation is a hot topic for the next decade. I am very interested in the session would like to participate in EU related projects.
Interesting topic. What about the application of VW for training? (social learning spaces, serious games)
that's very interesting, as virtual world technologies has still to demonstrate they huge implications in usages. i'll be there
Interested to attend
I am interested to join this session.
Very interesting and would like to attend this session. Euro-India Research Centre (EIRC) being the key entity of the Indian National Contact Point (NCP) looks at concrete, practical areas for collaboration. So I would like to invite the like minded to participate in our networking session called ‘Euro-India ICT Cooperation Gateway’ (http://ec.europa.eu/information_society/events/cf/item-display.cfm?id=823) for fostering this opportunity.
