Status on e-Inclusion measurement, analysis and approaches for improvement, February 2007

The objective of this study was to compile existing literature and evidence (secondary research) on wide ‘social’ aspects of eInclusion in the EU (beyond regional aspects of ICT network access). On this basis, areas were identified for further exploration in support of EU cohesion and growth goals, evidence of ICT socio-economic impact, eInclusion measurement, and efficiency of policy actions. Finally, the study makes suggestions for policy improvement.

Interactive content and convergence: Implications for the Information Society, January 2007

According to the study, revenue from online content is expected to reach €8.3 billion by 2010 in Europe, a growth of over 400% in five years. While assessing the potential of the emerging creative content online market, the study found that although the market is growing steadily, technological, economic and legal challenges – notably intellectual property rights and interoperability – need to be addressed for Europe to have faster market uptake. Based on a wide consultation of stakeholders, it identified 36 existing or potential roadblocks to developing online content and assesses their market impact up to 2010.
