Faster Internet for researchers and students
The academic community have historically been key contributors to the development of the Internet. They quickly appreciated its potential to support collaborative activity and their innovative use of this new tool contributed a great deal to making the Internet so popular. If they are to continue to innovate researchers and students need to have access to top quality networks which enable new approaches to collaborative learning and research. To this end eEurope proposed the upgrading of existing linkages between European research networks, as well as further research on new approaches such as World Wide Grid technology.
