In May 2002, the Commission adopted a follow-up Action Plan to eEurope 2002, eEurope 2005, running from 2003 to 2005. eEurope 2002 proved to be a successful format. The new action plan will build on these successes and maintain eEurope as the symbol of European Union policy to develop the information society.

Launch

December 1999: The eEurope initiative pdf format was launched by the European Commission to bring the benefits of the Information Society to all Europeans.

Action 

June 2000: The eEurope 2002 Action Plan pdf format was agreed by Heads of State and Government in Feira sets out a roadmap to achieve eEurope's targets.

Monitoring

The eEurope targets are monitored regularly to ensure that they stay on track.

Benchmarking

If eEurope's targets are to be met, we all need to keep up the pressure. Benchmarking is there to help us. Member States have agreed on a set of  indicators for eEurope to measure comparative progress. Full details are in the benchmarking section of this website.
