Digital literacy is becoming an essential criterion for almost every job. eEurope proposes to promote life-long learning, to establish a European diploma for basic IT skills and to set up public Internet access points.
Progress is being monitored primarily through ESDIS (High level group on the Employment and Social Dimension of the Information Society).
What has been done so far?
Progress on all action lines of eEurope is monitored has been monitored at three levels - progress at EU level, progress at Member State level and data collection in the context of benchmarking. Progress reports by Community institutions and Member States have been updated end of 2001.
